iRHiST

The Alliance Sorbonne Université’s initiative Renewing the History of Science and Technology (initiative Renouveler l’histoire des sciences et des techniques, or iRHiST) aims at bringing together specialists from various disciplines whose research, teaching and knowledge diffusion activities intersect with the history of science and technology along shared cross-disciplinary themes. 

The history of science and technology covers a wide variety of subjects, from all historical periods, including the present time, and all cultural areas. It seeks to understand how epistemological, social, cultural and political dynamics contribute to the construction of science and technology, and how these in return have social impacts.

Fostering dialogue between different perspectives (from history, philosophy, sociology, lettres or communication) and the networking of people with diverse skills (researchers, research professors and staff from the Alliance’s libraries, archives and collections), iRHiST seeks to renew the issues, methods and implications of the history of science and technology.
